The bankruptcy court entered an order converting the bankruptcy cases of Empire Land, LLC and its subsidiaries from cases under chapter 11 of the Bankruptcy Code to cases under chapter 7 of the Bankruptcy Code. The Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors initially filed a motion seeking conversion of the cases on November 7, 2008. The debtors whose cases were converted are as follows:

- Aviat Homes, L.P.
- Empire Construction, L.P.
- Empire Global Holdings, L.P.
- Empire Residential Construction, L.P.
- Empire Residential Sales, L.P.
- Prestige Homes, L.P.

EZ Lube, LLC filed a voluntary bankruptcy petition in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware today. EZ Lube is the largest independent quick lube operator in California, with 78 retail service locations in Southern California and four locations in Arizona. The company’s business has been under pressure due to high gas prices, the overall negative economic environment and negative publicity resulting from a settlement with the California Department of Consumer Affairs/Bureau of Automotive Repair relating to “allegations of certain untruthful or misleading actions to sell service and parts to customers.” The company also sought approval of bidding procedures relating to a proposed sale of substantially all of its assets.
