GETRAG Transmission Manufacturing LLC (GTM LLC), a subsidiary of GETRAG Corporation, filed a voluntary chapter 11 petition today in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. GTM LLC had been set up to build and operate a facility in Tipton, Indiana for the purpose of manufacturing dual clutch transmissions for Chrysler LLC. Chrysler LLC recently terminated the contractual agreements between GTM LLC and Chrysler with respect to the Tipton facility and GTM LLC filed the bankruptcy case for the purpose of terminating operations in Tipton and cancelling the project. GTM LLC and its affiliates have also sued Chrysler related to the termination of the contractual agreements.
